Hi, and welcome to the xRM.com CRM Success Portal.
In CRM Online, you can use Announcements to notify Users of items of importance in your organization. If you create a new Workflow, you can use an Announcement to tell Users how to use it. If a new company website goes live, you can create an Announcement that contains the URL of the site. Announcements are a quick and easy way to deliver information to Users in CRM Online.
In this tutorial, we will create and view an Announcement.
This task requires a Security Role of Vice-President, CEO-Business Manager, System Administrator, or System Customizer, or equivalent privileges.
Let's begin by navigating to Settings > System > Administration and clicking Announcements.
In the toolbar, click New. This opens the Announcement form, with the temporary name of "New".
In the Title field, let's give this Announcement the title of "Sample Announcement".
In the Body field, type the entire text of the Announcement. We can cut and paste text from another application, such as Microsoft Word. However, any formatting will be lost upon pasting into CRM Online. Let's type, "Sample Text."
If we wish to include a URL in the Announcement, we can do so in the More Information URL field. Let's enter the URL "www.xrm.com".
Now, let's enter an Expiration Date. We can type it in the field, or select a date using the Select date icon (which looks like a small calendar with one of the dates circled). When the Announcement expires, it cannot be updated. CRM Online then removes it from the Announcements area.
Now that we have filled out the form, let's click Save and Close, thus closing the Announcement form.
We can now see our new Announcement here in the Announcements list. If we want to edit our Announcement, we do so from here. The same goes for deleting the Announcement.
However, this is not where most Users in CRM Online view the Announcements.
Users can view our Announcement in the Workplace module. Navigate to Workplace > My Work > Announcements.
Here is our Announcement with the title in bold and the body text immediately below it. Users do not need to open Announcements individually to read them. As more Announcements are created, they'll be listed here from most recent to oldest.
As you can see, the link is included in the Announcement. If we click the link, we're immediately taken to the site.
That's how you create Announcements in CRM Online.
Thanks for watching.
