Creating a Child Goal
Hi, and welcome to the Success Portal by xRM.com.
This video refers to topics covered in the video, “Goal Management”, which is also located in the Success Portal.
In CRM Online, Child Goals are goals within a Goal. Think of them as benchmarks that you meet as you work toward the target. Goals can have a parent-child relationship, meaning that a Child Goal contributes its data to its Parent Goal. A Child Goal must have the same goal metric and time period as their Parent Goal.
In this video, we will create a Child Goal within a Goal for the third quarter of this fiscal year, which is to reach $325,000. We want to divvy up our target revenue, so we’ll assign the Child Goal with a target of $100,000 to another User.
This task requires a Security Role of Manager, Vice President, CEO-Business Manager, System Administrator, System Customizer, or equivalent privileges.
We begin by navigating to Sales > Goals.
Let’s open “Goal for Q3 (Sample)” a sample Goal for the third quarter of this fiscal year.
When the Goal form opens, we see that our Target is $325,000.00.
To create our Child Goal, let’s navigate to Information > Child Goals, which is in the left pane.
Click the list area under Child Goals, thus highlighting the box in blue. Now, click Add New Goal in the ribbon.
The Goal form opens with the temporary name of “New”. Let’s give this Goal the Name, “Q3 Goal for xRM Salesman”.
In the Goal Owner field, we’ll enter “xRM Salesman”.
As you can see, there is no Child Goal form, but we make this a Child Goal by assigning it a Parent Goal. Since we clicked Add New Goal from an open Goal record, the Parent Goal field has been automatically populated, as well as the Goal Metric and Manager fields.
Now, we’ll type “$100,000.00” in the Target (Money) field.
Now, click Save & Close in the ribbon, thus closing the form.
Back at the Goal for Q3 (Sample) record, in the Child Goals area, we see that our Child Goal was successfully created and saved.
That’s how you create Child Goals in CRM Online.
Thanks for watching.
