Creating a System Chart
Hi, and welcome to the Success Portal by xRM.com.
This tutorial refers to an entity created in the video “Creating a Custom Entity”.
In CRM Online, you can create Charts to present your business’ data graphically. CRM Online supports two types of Charts: System and User. System Charts are available to all Users in your organization. User Charts are available to those with whom the Chart has been shared or assigned.
In this tutorial, we will pretend that we run a gym. We will create a System Chart that displays the number of Sports Leagues in our gym by gender.
This task requires a Security Role of System Customizer or System Administrator, or equivalent privileges.
We begin by navigating to Settings > Customization > Customizations. Now, click Customize the System.
The Solution: Default Solution window opens. We want to navigate to the entity that we want to make a chart for. Let’s navigate to Components > Entities > Sports League > Charts. It’s important to note that “Sports League” is a custom entity that I created in another tutorial. It will not appear by default in CRM Online.
We now see a list of Charts for this entity. Currently, there are no Charts, so let’s click New in the toolbar.
The Chart Designer opens. In the View used for chart preview field, make sure that Active Sports Leagues is selected.
Remember, we want our Chart to display the number of Sports Leagues in our gym by gender. Let’s say that we want it to be a pie chart.
In the Legend Entries (Series) field, let’s select “Sports League” and “Count: All”.
Select “Gender” in the Horizontal (Category) Axis Labels field.
In the ribbon, let’s select Pie.
Notice that it says “Sports League by Gender” in the field above the Chart display. CRM Online has automatically populated this field for us based on our specifications. We can still change this if we choose to do so, but we’ll leave it as is.
Now, click Save & Close in the ribbon, thus closing the Chart Designer.
Let’s see how this Chart looks if we view it from the Workplace module. Navigate to Workplace > Sports League. On the right side of the screen, let’s click where it says “Click here to view the chart”.
We see a pie Chart that divides up the Sports Leagues by gender.
That’s how you create a System Chart in CRM Online.
Thanks for watching.
