Organization Unique Name

An organization unique name is used internally by CRM Online and some Microsoft partner systems to refer to a specific organization. For example, if you are a User that belongs to multiple CRM instances, and you’re building a report using FetchXML, you’ll need to specify the URL name and your organization unique name to get the right data. The unique name also comes into play when setting up an e-mail router.
The organization unique name is different than the friendly name, which appears in the upper-right corner of the browser. It is also different than the URL name.
How do you find out what your organization unique name is? It’s really quite simple. Navigate to Settings > Customization > Customizations, and then click Developer Resources. The name is right at the top under Organization Unique Name. This is also where you can download files that help you develop applications and extensions for Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
Over the past few years, the manner in which CRM Online has generated the unique name has changed. It could match the URL name, the friendly name, or be a unique string of characters. As a result, it’s always good to know where you can find your organization unique name.
