Navigate to any record or area in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Click the Quick Create button and create a new record. For example, navigate to the Sales Social Activity Dashboard and use Quick Create to create a new Case record. What is the relationship between the newly created record and the record or page that you were viewing when you clicked the Quick Create button?
The interface of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online is designed to be fluid and intuitive. The Quick Create feature is a perfect example of this. It is a button located in the navigation bar that allows you to quickly create new records from just about anywhere in the application without having to open the full form experience.
When you click the Create button in the navigation bar, a row of tiles appears. Each tile represents a different entity and is categorized by color. On the left are four red tiles that are smaller than the rest. These are Activity tiles; there’s one for the Task, Phone Call, Email, and Appointment entities. Quick Create for an Activity entity is different than a regular entity because it opens the full form experience. So if you click the Phone Call tile, the default form for a new Phone Call record opens.
Clicking on the tile of a regular entity, such as Account and Contact, opens a Quick Create form for that entity. This isn’t the regular form, but instead a form that opens inline that contains fields important to creating a new record. Quick Forms can be configured to add and remove fields as you see fit, including custom fields.
Quick Create forms can also be opened from another record. For example, if you create a new Contact from an open Account record, the Quick Form for the Contact entity will open inline, and certain fields will be populated with data pulled from the parent record.
The Quick Create feature is designed to simplify the record creation process by helping users easily capture required and important fields without having to navigate away from their current location in the application.
