Microsoft Dynamics CRM can help improve your sales and marketing efforts right out of the box with its ability to track a Lead record’s source. The Lead Source and Source Campaign fields, both default attributes, can be extremely powerful if leveraged properly.
In all likelihood, one of the reasons you’re looking to invest, or have invested in Microsoft Dynamics CRM is because you want your business to be more efficient. By leveraging the Lead Source and Source Campaign fields you can plan your next sales and marketing efforts more effectively. The efficient distribution of valuable resources can have a significant impact on your bottom line.
By default, both the Lead Source and Source Campaign fields are present in the original classic form, but they are absent in the new form. It is recommended that you add both fields to the new Lead form so that Users don’t have to toggle between classic and new forms to record the data.
To add the fields to the new form, click the ellipsis in the toolbar and select Form Editor. When the Form Editor opens, drag both the Lead Source and Source Campaign fields from the Field Explorer on the right, to the body of the form. Next, save and publish the entity.
Once you return to the Lead record, you can record data for either field. But how can you use this data to your advantage? One way you can do this isto visualize which sources are best at generating Lead records. Open the All Leads View. On the far right side of the window, maximize the Chart pane. Dynamics CRM has an out-of-the-box pie chart that you can open to see where these Leads are coming from. In the dropdown menu, select Leads by Source. You’ll see a color-coded visualization of Lead Sources. You can drill down into the data by clicking a portion of the chart to see which records represent it. Notice that the listed records on the left dynamically change. If you click other sections, Dynamics CRM will present you with those Lead records.
Taking advantage of the Lead Source and Source Campaign fields can help you allocate your resources effectively.
