Using Activity Feeds
Hi, and welcome to the Success Portal by xRM.com.
In CRM Online, many record types allow for Activities to be associated with them. You can stay up to date with what’s happening in your business by viewing the Activities you and your colleagues have recorded in one place. With Activity Feeds, you can see the most recent news about Users and records you have chosen to follow.
In this tutorial we will follow a Lead record and view it in our Activity Feeds.
This task requires privileges found in all default Security Roles.
We begin by navigating to Sales > Leads. Let’s say we want to stay up to date on a particular Lead record. It does not need to be one that is owned by us. There are two ways to do this. One way is to select the record without opening it, and then clicking Follow in the ribbon.
Another way is to open the record. We’ll open the sample record, “Stephanie Conroy (sample)”. Once it opens, in the left pane, under Information, click Record Wall.
We now see the Record Wall for this Lead. Notice that there is a blank field with a message icon next to it. This is where you can share thoughts or notes regarding this record. Let’s write, “I’ll convert this Lead within the next three days”, and then click the submit button.
Our message then appears below for anyone following this Lead to read. Now, let’s follow this record by clicking the Follow button on the right. We now see ourselves listed as a follower. Let’s close this record and check our Activity Feeds.
Navigate to Sales > What’s New. We now see our Activity Feeds, which displays our recent post. From here we can write more posts in the field below where it says “what’s new”. On the right, we can see how many records and Users we’re following. By clicking on the number “3” next to Leads, we can open a View in a separate window called “Leads I Follow”, which displays each Lead record. Close the window.
We can also see who is following us right above where it says “following”.
On the left, in the lists of posts, we can filter between auto posts, user posts, and all. We can also click on a post to open the record it is regarding.
That’s how you follow records and use your Activity Feeds.
Thanks for watching.
